You Can Have Your Cake and Eat It Too!

Isn't this just the cutest!!! Oh my goodness-it is super quick too! I know the people at Splitcoast Stampers (Pamzi in particular) always ask me how long it takes to make my cards. The last card took me about 8 hours. But I can tell you that I made this in about 45 minutes. I know the next one I make will be like 20 minutes max-cause now I have my template!!!
I bought this little tea light in a pack of two at the dollar store. The blue cardstock is just leftovers and so is the white. I used my spellbinders scalloped die for the top and bottom. The top is the smallest die in the large set and the bottom is the next size up for the small.

I used the lace edge Martha Stewart border punch and trimmed it down very small and added pearls. The flowers on the top are some things small enough to go on the top that I had laying around here. The Martha Stewart branch and butterfly punch were also used.

If you are interested in making one of these, you can catch the tutorial over at Splitcoast Stampers here. It doesn't show you how to do the bottom part. For that, like I said, just cut the next size up from the smallest die, then I took a pencil and traced the tealight in the middle of the die cut and cut out the hole so you can turn the tealight off and on. I slipped it into place and put a bit of glue around to hold it.

I cannot wait to make more of these. They are just so darn cute!!! I am going to try to make the acetate box to put it in as well. This is a super fun and quick project!!! Have fun!

  1. Carol, that is sooooooooooo stinking cute! I may have to try my hand at one of these, but I'll have to go free-hand because I don't have any dies to use. But I do have a few punches & some different edged scissors.

  4. Carol,
I just love your art work. This is really adorable. Have you ever considered sending in some of your ideas to Martha herself, since you are using some of her products? I watch her show all the time and I think you would make an interesting guest! Good Work!! love, Kathleen P.

  5. this is so cute :-) Love you attention to detail. we don't get battery operated tealights here, so I will admire only and not attempt - I don't think it would go too well on an lit candle :-).
