Violet Floral Card

OK, I missed uploading this card yesterday. I happened to apply for a job over the Internet at a large bank and it took me almost two hours. I had to take a test along with a lengthy application, plus my resume' and cover letter. This is kind of a funny story but, I had purchased stock at The Heritage Bank back in 2003 when I started working for them. In 5 years I only made $175. So after they laid me off, I cashed my stock in and went to this large bank (the one I just applied for a job at) and doubled my money in less than a month.

Anywho......I love making the flowers on this card. I have made many of these flowers throughout my card making endeavors. I think they are just so pretty on cards. I just realized I don't have any stickles on this card. I am slipping!!! I really love violet and blue together. I don't know if you can see it well in this picture, but the floral dp had those colors in it.

Well, I am off to work in my garden and after that I am going to make more cards today. It's going to be beautiful here today. Thanks for stopping by and reading my chatter.

Sunfish Get Well Card

Here is a card I made to send to my husbands Uncle Frank who is currently in the hospital. I have had this stamp forever and have never used it. I was always afraid to tackle the coloring. I used my pencils to color, then I used linen colored distress ink all over it to tone down a little of the brightness. I put stickles just on the fish. I tried out the "Pixie" sewing machine to do the stitching. I need more practice for sure. I am not sure I like this machine yet. I need to do some more stitching. I am a seamstress but am not too happy with the results on this project. Thanks for letting me share.

Stamp: Whispers
Paper: Card stock and DP from Blossoms and Posies Stack
Ink: Black and Linen Distress Ink
Accessories: Ribbon, Spellbinders label die, Pixie Sewing Machine, Star brads

Sunflower Bear Thank You Card

I needed to make a couple of thank you cards this weekend to send to friends that did something nice for me last week. I have been participating in the Viva Las Vegas challenge at SCS and this was my entry for the Blackjack Challenge. You were suppose to make a card that totaled21points. This is how mine added up:
5 points for the stamp
1 point for every layer - I had 3 layers for 3 points
3 points for every DP- I had a total of 6points
1 point for each embellishment- I had 4 brads and 3 rhinestone flowers for 7 points
Total = 21 and a blackjack.

This is one of my favorite stamps. I need to look up the company that made it. I will post another fabulous card I made with it that added up over the 21 points, so I will have it then. The "Thanks" is from Beyond Birthdays cartridge cut on my cricut. Thanks for looking and have a great Sunday.

Thanks for Making My Day

Today's card was a challenge on SCS for Viva Las Vegas. For the 11 o'clock challenge you had to make a "Gold" card with as many gold elements as possible. So I wanted to try that soda can technique from the other week. I used my nesties, a cuttlebug embossing folder, and some gold embossing powder and came up with one of the gold elements. I heat embossed the sentiment which an inkadinkado stamp, used gold ribbon, punched the lace with a Martha Stewart border punch and used some gold brads. I put some black card stock behind my stamp image to give it some pizazz and make it stand out. Thanks for looking and have a great evening! I am off to try another challenge.

Today's Teapot Cake Project

Here is the teapot cake I made for book club tonight for our Alice's Adventures in Wonderland Book. It came out better than I thought it would have around 11 a.m. this morning when I discovered the Marzipan I purchased on Monday to make the spout, handle, and knob was as hard as a rock. I opened that package and could have thrown it against the wall and it wouldn't have broke. (On a side note....I would have liked to have thrown it at the squirrels bothering my bird feeders today but that's a story for another day.) I have never used Marzipan before and called the number on the package to find out if this was natural. Somehow, the store where I purchased this has had it on the shelf for ages. They couldn't even find the product number in their system any more. So, I will have to return it to the store where I bought it. Meanwhile, I live a good 14 miles from the store and it's not such an easy thing to just jump in the car and go get more. So I used a cereal box and cut out the spout and handle and frosted it!!! Voila....here is the results. Now mind you I made these pieces long enough to really push in the cake so they would hold up. I baked this cake in a 1-1/2 quart Pyrex bowl at 350 degrees for 55 minutes. The key is to grease your bowl well so that it will come out easily. It's chocolate, of course. And there you have it!!!

Butterfly Sympathy Card

Here is another sympathy card I had to make. I hope this will be the last one I have to send for the year! You know how that goes. I used inkadinkadoo's Gem Stone Insect Stamps for the Butterfly. It was heat embossed with gold and I rolled the edges to give more dimension to the wings. I used Martha Stewart's border punch in two layers. I love her border punches. I save up my Michael's 40% or 50% coupons and pick one up whenever I get there. I also love their $1 bin and the sentiment stamp was purchased on my of my excursions from it. I used my Nesties Labels 1 (2 sizes) and Sm Square (2 sizes) and the Cuttlebug mesh embossing folder. I glittered the Butterfly's wings with stickles and put some bling with the rhinestones. The paper is from Scrapworks called "Formal Affair".

This is a busy week for me, my social calendar is jammed pack......what a hoot. I am enjoying not working. I am doing everything I ever wanted to do but was too tired!!! lol I have lunch with a friend today and I am also working on a dessert for book club today. I will post a picture here if I am successful getting it put together. It's a bit of a challenge....but I am up for it. Thanks for stopping by and checking out my card. Have the best day possible!

Dragonfly Sympathy Card

Here is a card I made yesterday. It is with great sadness that I say that my dear friend Lynda, whom I posted here that I sent the Bunny Card to, passed away on Monday morning of pancreatic cancer. My friend Cheryl told me that on Saturday they were making plans for the three of us get together this Friday night for a pajama party with Lynda. She took a turn for the worst on Sunday night and God took her home. I am sending this to her daughter and family.

This card was made with my cuttlebug using the embossing folders and a cuttlebug die for the white scroll pieces around the sentiment. I embossed the black card stock with the paisley embossing folder but you cannot see it in this picture. I took this picture outside this morning, but it is so windy and cold it was the best I could do. The stamp is from Inkdinkadoo's Gem Insect, the paper is from Stampworks Formal Affair. Spellbinders die cut labels was used as well as flower punches, rhinestones, ribbon, and stickles that were used on the flowers and dragonfly.

Thanks for looking. I should have more cards here this week.

Happy Easter!

I know, I know that Rubber Stampede Bunny again. But gosh, she is so cute I could not resist doing several variations in cards with this stamp. This card was so different from the others that I just wanted to share it. I used two Martha Stewart border punches, the scallop and the fence. The Happy Easter and eggs were some stickers in my stash. I used stickles on the flowers on the bunny again, of course!

I got my cardmaking and scrapping area organized yesterday. So I should be on a roll with cards. Wishing you and your family a very Happy Easter!

Easter Bunny is on his way

Today's card is done with a Diane Marcum stamp called Miss Bunny. This card was sent to a good friend of mine who is sick to let her know I was thinking of her. I embossed the card front with a cuttlebug embossing folder, I used Martha Stewart's frond and branch punch and prima flowers. I also had the dimensional Spring title in my stash and I stickled the bunnies flowers on her hat and her pink bow.

Here is another version using the same stamp. The flower was made on my cricut with the Martha Stewart frond and branch punch. The Happy Easter sentiment is a shaker sticker I had in my stash. The bunny has stickles on her hat flowers and pink bow. This is such a cute stamp, I love the expression on the bunny's sweet face. Hope you enjoy looking at my cards. Will see you with the last of my bunny cards tomorrow. Do you think I might have my Mojo going now????

Bunny Abundance

Here is another variation on the Bunny Rubber Stampede stamp I did. This one I sent to my Mom in Connecticut. She just got out of the hospital again on Monday. I just love the spellbinders dies. The ones used here are the long square and filigree. I punched out some flowers with punches I had. I used tiny rhinestones for the center of the flowers. There is stickles on the flowers and the flowers and carrot on the bunny.

Speaking of glitter, I am infatuated with glitter. I just love it and am known to spray it even in my hair. I always get compliments on my hair when I spray the glitter. Everyone tells me how shiny and healthy my hair looks. I use the Herbal Essence fine glitter spray so people don't think I am over the edge with the glitter. lol It's just my little secret. And, yes I do own the bath and body works spray body glitter, of course. Have you ever seen roses that have been sprayed with glitter...absolutely beautiful. Having a little sparkle just seems to liven everything up. I like glitter on just about everything except my food. ROFL So basically what I am trying to say is that all the cards you will see here are going to have glitter on them.

So off I go to do some more bunnies! See you tomorrow.

Bunny Mode here in Georgia

The "Girls" in all their glory. We are in Bunny mode here at our house in Georgia. Just looking at these bunnies makes me smile. I wish Hallmark still carried the Bunnies by the Bay. I just loved them and take these out every year.
Hallmark Bunnies by the Bay: Cricket

Hallmark Bunnies by the Bay: Miss Wisdom
Hallmark Bunnies by the Bay: Nettie Confetti

Here is Buttercup (a Boyd's Danbury Mint Doll) with a bear dressed up like a rabbit with today's card I made. I used the same Rubber stamp from Rubber Stampede with a different size card and color variation.

Easter Bunny Card

Today, I tried to get my creative Mojo going again. I have sort of been putting it off. I have been wanting to do my crafts but it seems like I don't have it together yet. This is a card I made today to send to my Mom's friend for Easter. The bunny is a rubber stamp from "Rubber Stampede", the flower was made on my Cuttlebug with my spellbinder flower die. The leaves are Martha Stewart both frond and branch punch. The Happy Easter sticker is from a set that I got about three years ago. The rhinestone flowers have an adhesive backing and something I picked up a Walmart years ago as well. The sentiment inside the card reads as follows:

Would you like to know a secret?
Well, I'll tell you one I know:
The Easter Bunny's coming,
My Mama told me so.

He'll bring a basket filled with eggs
And leave it in my yard,
And I will find it Easter morn,
If I look very hard.

I shouldn't tell my secret,
But I think it should be shared.
You ought to know that Bunny's coming,
So you can be prepared!

I found this somewhere on the Internet a couple years ago. I don't know where. Thought it was kinda cute so have used it in my card.

See you tomorrow with another card!
