Summer Gladiolus

Isn't this a flower you don't see much of anymore?  Maybe it is just where I live they don't grow.  Maybe they are considered "Vintage"?  If you can enlighten me that would be great.  I remember these though growing up.  Our neighbor had a garden full of them.

I used yellow designer paper and some Dusty Concord Distress ink for some background colors. I embossed my panels and then distressed them with the Dusty Concord distress ink. The diecut is Spellbinders Fleur De Lis Rectangles.  I colored my flowers with copic markers and outlined with crystal stickles. The corners are a Sizzix die.

This card was sent to one of my very best friends Mother-In-Law.  Thanks for stopping by to take a peek.  I appreciate it very much!

Oh, beautiful! I almost never see them anymore either. They are gladiolas, I am quite sure. I love them but don't grow them. As a matter of fact, I never see them in plant nurseries. My mother grew them when I was a young girl...I guess that does make them vintage. LOL

You are right, you don't see gladiolus much anymore. I had planted a few when we first moved into this house; don't know what ever happened to them. They are one of DH's fave flowers.

SO pretty, Carol. I feel like I'm at a road side stand, buying these flowers by the bunch.

I love glads! They grow great here in Indiana. I am just not energetic enough to plant them because you have to dig up the bulbs here in the fall and replant them each spring. I am more of a perennial garden person - plant it once and it comes back every year with little maintenance!

Beautiful card - love the summer colors!

Carol, not sure if this is the exact one you sent Nonie or not but I know it looks very much like it. I know you know that she passed on last week, but I wanted to let you know that when she passed she had 4 cards in her little basket by her chair that she kept looking at - this card one of of them. She loved it. Thanks so much for taking the time (and I know it was a lot of time) to send her a special card like this one. You are a doll! Hugz - lotz of them!!!

Hey Carol,
Where did you get the gladiolus stamp? Who makes it? I would love to try a card with it. If it comes out just one tenth as nice as yours I will be pleased!
