Golden Christmas Tree Card

Happy Black Friday Everyone!!! LOL I am getting up at 4 a.m. this morning so I can be in line to get some good deals on Christmas presents for my boys. I am a little insane.....yes....but, hey, what to heck. It is a tradition with my husband and I. We really have to watch our budget this year anyway, so we will take advantage of the sale.Today's card was made for a Challenge at Splitcoast Stampers during Virtual Stamp Night. Would you believe that this is a Christmas ornament that I carved up? LOL Really, it had a star on the top which made it too big for the card. I also trimmed some of the stump off the tree trunk.I made this flowers with some punches I have. They have gold colored rhinestones in the center and lots of stickles for shine. I embossed the panels with the swiss dot embossing folder. I used the Classic Lace Bordabilities. The corners are a cuddlebug die cut that I cut in half and again I used a cereal box to cut them out so they would be like chipboard and I filled them with glitter. Here is the inside of this card. I gold embossed the tree you see here. I thought this sentiment stamp was perfect for the glitz and glitter of this card. Thanks for stopping in today. I really appreciate it. This ornament came from the $1 section in Walmart. They had several different colors. If you wish to try this, it does snap apart. So you can carefully pry it apart and trim with a regular pair of scissors. I would love to hear what you think about it!!!

Broken China Snowflake Card

Happy Thanksgiving everyone. I am in-between basting the Turkey and decided to start sharing more of my projects. I am a little behind on my postings here. So for the next few days, keep checking back as I will be posting a lot of my cards that I recently made. This particular card was made for one of the Challenges over at Split Coast Stampers for Virtual Stamp night. I volunteered to be a CO for VSN and have learned the behind the scene things that go on. It has been a lot of fun.I used the Spellbinders Fleur de' Lis Die cut for this as well as their Snowflake die. I am not sure if the Snowflake dies are number or not but it is one of the new ones for this year. I have last years snowflake which I really liked, but this one is my favorite and I am making it over and over....you will see more of this....I promise...LOL You can see my embossing really well in this picture. Here is the inside. I used Rangers Broken China distress ink....oh how I love that color...perfect for this. I am getting into inking lately....the more I do, the better I like it. Of course, there is lots and lots of glitter on this....another favorite accessory for me!!! My rhinestones were awesome match! You can see my snowflakes on the envelope that I made to go with this card. The tag is from Spellbinders called "Fancy Tags". Another one of my favorite dies.
Thanks for stopping by today and viewing my work. I hope you find some inspiration here that you can take to your creative table. As we reflect upon Thanksgiving and think about all we are thankful for, I will pass on how thankful I have been this year for finding so many wonderful friends that I have met on the Internet who love this craft as much as I do. What inspiration and beautiful work I have viewed and been inspired by. You are all amazing.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Midnight Madness Challenge #29 Gingerbread Village

Hi everyone and welcome to another week of Midnight Madness. I did go a little mad with the sketch this week. You know I love Teddy Bears, but I bet you didn't know I also love Gingerbread...they're kind of the same color aren't they? I have had this idea stuck in my head forever and thought this sketch was perfect to do it....so I went for it. I have my Christmas decorations up already so you can see I stuck the frame in my Gingerbread tree. I will treat you one day this week to a picture of this tree.
These images are freebies over at D.A.I.S.I.E. Company by Gina Jane. Isn't this the cutest thing you ever saw??? I even made my peppermints and wrapped them in the cellophane you normally throw away that your embellishments come in. I have been finding creative things to do with stuff your normally discard. I made all these houses 3D. The Gingerbread Man and the Gingerbread Girl in the middle of this picture are shakers. The heart in the middle is also a shaker and is really so cute. You can see I did lots of stitching. I will tell you that I also cut up a UPS box for the backing for this that I would have normally thrown away and I covered it with felt so you can't even tell on the back. You can get a good view of those peppermints in this picture with the one in the top left corner.I had one house left over....so guess what? I made a gift card to go with my picture frame with that one. Here is the card and believe it or not, I followed the sketch. The lollipop and heart are both shakers.

This is the inside of the card. These Gingerbread Boy and Girl are the same shakers that are in the frame. I can't tell you how much I enjoyed doing these. It was a lot of fun putting this together. I just love them!!! By the way, I had some help with the frame. My dear husband made this frame for me and stained it......so this project was a combined effort of the Hurlock family!!! LOL

Midnight Madness Sketch Challenge #28-Fred She Said Emma

Greetings one and all and welcome to week number 28 for Midnight Madness. It's been a busy week here at the Hurlock household. I took down my Fall/Halloween decorations and put them away. You won't believe how much stuff I have...enough to fill 4 rooms and an entry way, lights....tree....the whole nine yards. Today the Christmas decorations are coming out. It will take me a week to get it all up....5 trees, garland, blinking lights...you name it. It will be a winter wonderland. I need to charge admission to come see it. LOL I might put a couple pictures up here to give you a peek....I promise not to charge you to look. LOL

Today my card is a digi image from Fred She Said. This is Winter Emma and the Chickadee and she comes in 5 color versions. She is just the sweetest thing and don't you just love her boots!!! I can't wait to do the blue version and you will probably see that Fred She Said digi here next. I am a big fan of Tracey's digi's and encourage you to stop by her store and see her wonderful designs. They make up a card so beautifully!

Here you can see the layers I did with the digi and all the embellishments close up. I stitched the card, used the Fancy Tag Spellbinders Die Cut for the sentiment, and tied a ribbon. The green glitter piece is a spellbinders borderability that I cut from a cereal box and glittered up.The same goes for the swirls you see here. Cut them from an cereal box and glittered too! The Snowflakes are from K & Company that I happened to pick up on sale at JoAnn's early in September. I don't even see them anymore. They are gorgeous. Here is the inside of my card with the matching border punch, stitching and snowflakes. I hope that you have been inspired to create your own Christmas Card and here is why!!!!

Christmas with Fred She Said Flower

Splitcoast Stampers had Virtual Stamp night this weekend. The theme for the Virtual Stamp night has centered around a Masquerade ball. When I think about this theme, I reflect upon the fashions worn for a Masquerade ball and the beautiful gowns and jewelry. So I created this with that in mind.

The challenge was to create a card other than a 4-1/4" x 5-1/2". My card is 6 x 6. I used the beautiful Red Chrismas Flower digi from Fred She Said along with this beautiful paper pricking pattern from Fred She Said. I just love Tracey's digi images. They are so easy to work with and just delightful to add bling too!!!Here you can see I have three layers on the Christmas flower. I used gold glass beads for the center and stickled around all the edges. Gold stickles were used around the pin pricking.
This is a look at the inside of the card. I used a whole sheet of the Christmas flower to do this card. You see the one on the top left has two layers and the bottom right is one layer. I distress inked in gold. The lace is the new Martha Stewart punch.
I hope you have enjoyed viewing my card today and have found some inspiration for your own Holiday Card Crafting. This is a quick and easy project and one I know you will enjoy. Thanks for stopping by. If you have the time, please let me know what you think. Your comments mean so much to me and really make my day.

Poinsettia Christmas Wishes

This is a card I made with a PSX Poinsettia stamp that I got at a yard sale some time ago. I just love the bright vibrant colors of that very pretty Christmas Flower. The center of the poinsettia has gold seed beads that I glued in the middle. Here is a nice close up of the poinsettia. I stamped them three times with gold embossing powder and water colored them with Rangers Distress Fired Brick Distress Ink. Then I went over the top of the flowers and the leaves with glitter pens. IRL the poinsettia are glistening. I distressed the edges of the scalloped nesties and this Spellbinders Fancy Tag with Versamark's Brilliance Gold Galaxy ink. The sentiment was gold embossed. I used the new Martha Stewart doily lace trim punch. (I really like that one-and see myself using it a lot...good investment)
This is the inside of my card. I made the holly with Martha Stewart's branch punch. I highlighted the center of all the pretty flowers in the lace with red rhinestones.

One last look at the whole card. I stamped the corner of my envelop with the stamp and water-colored and glittered to match the main image. I hope you enjoyed viewing my card as much as I enjoyed making it. I love Christmas and will be making lots of Christmas cards. I hope you get some inspiration and create some poinsettia of your own!

Midnight Madness Sketch Challenge #27

Welcome to week number #27 of the Midnight Madness Sketch Challenge. Last week while visiting your blogs, I saw some very creative and inspiring ways you created the fan element on last weeks sketch. Here is this weeks sketch:
When I chose this image from Michelle Perkett, our sponsor for this week, there is one phrase that kept going through my head and I just couldn't shake it. When looking at this image called "Autumn", I kept thinking of "Fruit of the Spirit". I wrote a poem to place inside this card about the "Fruit of the Spirit".
I printed three images and layered them on the square scallop nestabilities. I used Plaid's Antique Liquid Embossing Glass Finish on the image. I colored this with pencils and blended. My flowers are hand crocheted from my own pattern and embellished with a pearl brad. I used some shiny glitter leaves and rhinestones for the corner. Here is a nice close up of the details of the layering and the embellishments used on this wonderful card. I actually dyed these flowers in Rangers re-inkers-they were crocheted with white crochet thread. The image was lots of fun to color. I used a combination of red, brown, and gold for her hair. I love red hair and most times your will find my girl images with red hair. Here is the poem I wrote to correspond with this card. What a way to take your cards to another level. I encourage you to give it a try. Be inspired by your images and see where your creativity will take you!
Here is another picture of the entire inside of the card. The left side is blank for a personal note and salutation. Would you like the crochet pattern for these little flowers?
